Guess what, guys? It's 2012! And I haven't posted yet. Bad Mary.
I'd like to invite you to friend me on facebook, where I post most of my costuming photos and such. Yay!
I'd also like to let you know what I've got coming up. I recently attended MegaCon in Orlando, FL. It was a great convention, though a long drive! Next up will be MTAC, right here in Nashville. I can't believe I'm going over a month without attending a convention! It's going to be weird. Anyhow, I've got lots going on and am hoping to update you soon! I love and miss you guys! Here's to getting the blog going strong again. :)

That's right. NINE DAYS.
I am so not ready.
I might have been ready, but my parents suddenly decided to come into town this weekend. So my sewing time is basically cut in half.
Yeah.
I love them and want to see them, but gah!!!
So, I'm going to post my costume progress to help me keep track of what I still need to do. *hopefully* this will help, and not actually make me take more time....
Hopefully you're interested, too! :P
Most of the remaining work is on the Ceremonial Leia and Cersei costumes.
Cersei's underdress, corset, and overdress are constructed, but not hemmed. I also need to add boning and closures to the bodice. Pics soon, I hope. :)
The pieces for Leia's dress are cut and serged. I just need to do the actual construction, and hem everything. Hemming is such a bitch.
Basically, Leia's dress is three dresses in one. Which makes it so you can't see through the whole thing, but is also SUPER annoying.
Today I'm working on Leia's belt. I've tested four different silver spray paints on the leather, and I think I've chosen one. I have to wait for it all to finish drying, but I think I know which I'm going to use. So that's yay! But I still need to cut out all the metal plates, draft and cut the actual belt, and construct everything. Need to get my butt in gear!!!! Rawr.
Pics soon. I'll have to post them from my phone, so they'll be in smaller posts. But they'll be here soon.
Wish me luck!!!

Hey guys! So I don't have a Comic-Con video up yet.....and I can't do anything but apologize for that. I will make one. Soon. I have, however, written an article about Comic-Con for Space Gypsies! Go check it out, and let me know what you think!
Also, last weekend I attended Whedonfest, put on by Whedonites United. I had a great time and won 1st place in my category in the costume contest! Check out my Lady Mal AKA "Captain Short Pants" costume over on my twitter - tab at the top of the page! I had a great time at Whedonfest, and encourage you to attend next year! We played Whedon trivia games, watched Serenity and Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog, and lots of other awesome stuff! It was part of Can't Stop The Serenity charity events benefiting Equality Now, Kids Need to Read, and our local charity, New Leash on Life. We had a great time and helped make the world better, too! So all around a good weekend. <3 and miss you guys!!

Well, I'm home from Comic-Con. The dream is over.
I'll be doing a piece for Space Gypsies and a wrap-up video as soon as I can, but for now there's just this.
I feel like I've been gone for ages! It's weird to be back to real life.
The trip certainly had its ups and downs, but it was truly amazing. Comic-Con was...I guess as I expected it. Though I really didn't know what to expect at all.

Today is the day I leave for
Comic-Con. I had hoped to put up an introductory video, but a last minute meeting made that impossible to fit in today. I'll be updating as much as I can here and on Twitter, though I won't have much opportunity for internet access, given the state of my computer. (Airlines frown upon taking external monitors with you...) So I'll do the best I can just using my phone. The travel adventure begins in T-minus 5.5 hours!!!!
I know it's Linky Wednesday, but I'm skipping that to start a new thing. This thing is going to be called.....
And suns and moons exploded with its advent.
This is going to be just what it says. I'm going to do something awesome, and bring my Fatshirt Kirk action figure along.
I'll be posting them here, and likely on my Twitter as well, which can be found here.
Here's one to get you started:
FYI, this new thing is going to be awesome.

Wrote a post today, and realized it wasn't very interesting. So I deleted. But then I remembered that it's......
LINKY WEDNESDAY!!!!!
Whoo! How exciting is that?
Today, I'd like to do a shameless plug/introduce you to a sweet website. And what is Linky Wednesday for, if not introducing you to sweet websites?
Space Gypsies' slogan is "We Fangirl So You Don't Have To." Doesn't that sound a bit like what I do here at Mary Lou Who? Well, they thought so too! Space Gypsies has recently asked me to become a contributor to their site, doing convention coverage, reviews, and general fangirliness. I'm so excited to be a part of it! So go on over and check them out - I'll be posting soon!
Only one link today.....because I really want you to go to it! :P

Hey guys! I discovered some really cool websites today that I wanted to share.
Is this gonna be a thing? I dunno. Maybe I'll make it a thing.
The first is the Art of Manliness. This site is...exactly what it says! A guide for men to be the best men they can, and to woo the best lady they can. There are tips on everything from whittling to romancing. It's quite interesting and informative even to a woman. I recommend it to any man who's looking for that little extra "something." If you hear of something similar for ladies, please let me know!
The second two I discovered though Art of Manliness. Nerd Fitness is dedicated to helping people become better. More confident, more fit, more spiritually aware. They're about setting goals for yourself, and achieving them. This, in itself, is nothing new. But Steve Kamb, creator of Nerd Fitness, relates it all to - guess what? - Nerds! He suggests thinking of your life as one big video game. Obviously it's a bit more in depth than that, but making a video game out of anything always makes it more fun!
Khan Academy is really cool. They've got videos, links, and all kinds of resources to help you learn stuff! It's a very cool resource, especially for those of us who have completed all of our forseeable formal education. I'm not sure where their name came from, but I'm pretending Star Trek had something to do with it.
Should this be a thing?

Hey guys! This weekend I was experiencing some technical difficulties with the website. I think I've got it fixed now! I'm so sorry to all of you who tried to visit me only to have the site not work. :( Sad panda! But I think everything is ok now. <3 you all!
We're back from TimeGate, and a wrap-up video is forthcoming. So are pictures! I have tweeted a few, so see them here. More to come of course. I met some wonderful people, and and am so glad we drove the 4 hours to Atlanta. We had an amazing time, and I'm more excited for Dragon*Con than ever before!!

I got a fantastic cut and color that I can't wait to show everyone! And also, my new Teefury shirt!!
This article provides some great insight into geeky friend groups! It's a really interesting read and you'll probably see yourself in it at least once! I sure did...
http://www.plausiblydeniable.com/opinion/gsf.html
I love that someone has actually pointed all of these out. They are only subtly different from each other, but quite detrimental to both the 'carrier' and their friends in varying ways. I've experienced all of them at some point, whether in myself or someone I know. Read up!
